Top 5 PSP Games Followed –> By Best PSP Games Of 2016
5. GRAN TURISMO PSP
Gran Turismo PSP was developed by Polyphony Digital and was unveiled on October 1st, 2009 after a harrowing five year delay. It was initially announced back in 2004 at the same time Sony announced their original PSP. This game is one of the best-selling PSP games and has sold nearly 5 million games.
Although not the best reviewed game by critics, the numbers speak tons about its place in the heart of fans. The best thing about the game is the authentic feel that you get with over 800 vehicles that are surprisingly accurate models of their real life versions.
As a single player, you are presented with the Time Trial, Single Race and Drift Trial. It has a trading system where players can acquire new vehicles. One of the drawbacks of this game that prevented it from getting even higher rankings was the absence of the career mode and inability to upgrade vehicles.
4. Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker
Peace Walker was hailed as one of the best PSP games when it was launched. This epic game has all the qualities of a remarkable PSP game; a compelling storyline, relatable characters, good graphics and amazing gameplay.
The game is also quite long giving you the ultimate gaming experience and keeps you from getting bored. Peace Walker is also one of the most difficult PSP games to master and this definitely makes it worth the effort.

3. Grand Theft Auto: Vice City Stories
Vice City Stories was developed by Rockstar Leeds in collaboration with Rockstar North. The game was released on October 31st, 2006.
This game is an open-world action game and is the tenth installment of the Grand Theft Auto series. It preceded Liberty City Stories. It is based in Miami, Florida and the gameplay gimmick consists of elements of both open world driving and third-person action. Gamers loved this game because of the wide range of things you could do within the open world while also following a central storyline.
Vice City Stories also featured the classic “empire building”, where you climb up the city’s ranks by opening businesses and taking over gangs. This game was very well received by the public with off the charts score on Metacritic and GameRankings respectively.
2. Final Fantasy VII – Crisis Core
Not having a final fantasy game in a best-PSP-games-of-all-time list would amount to a crime against gaming. While any game in the Final Fantasy franchise deserves a stop on this list, Crisis Core was the first Final Fantasy PSP games and got fans talking.
Crisis Core is an action packed RPG that was developed by Square Enix. This game was released in 2007 in Asia and on March 25th 2008 in North America. As a player you get to control Zack Fair, a young soldier in a paramilitary unit through open areas in one of the most compelling storylines among PSP games.
Crisis Core is set some seven years before the events of Final Fantasy VII; the 1997 video game. One of the best things about Crisis Core is the top quality of its cut scenes. This game also had one of the best endings ever. Crisis Core got very positive reviews and is ranked the 6th best-selling PSP games of all time. It ranks 8.0/10 or higher in most PSP game rankings.
1. God of War: Ghost of Sparta
This entry is another one that was difficult to decide on considering the quality of God of War: Chains of Olympus. All the games in the God of War series can definitely hold their own as best games of all time. Ghost of Sparta was developed by Santa Monica Studio and Ready at Dawn and was released for the PSP on November 1st, 2010.
This gem is a third person action-adventure that is loosely based on Greek mythology. Ghost of Sparta is the sixth installment in the game series. You get to control the ever vengeful Kratos across ancient Greece and rewrite Greek mythology in a bath of blood and bodily fluids.
The gameplay resembles all other games in the franchise where the combat is centered on combo moves and tactics. One of the reasons why people got hooked to this game and all God of War games in general is the quick time events.
These events allow you to decimated game bosses by completing controller action in a timed sequence. The game received critical acclaim for the gameplay, graphics and storyline. Some critics even state that the graphics surpass those of the PS2. It has several “Best handheld game” awards and a “Best PSP game” award.

Best PSP Games Of 2016
Now that I have pointed out the best games of all times, I want to introduce to you the top 5 best psp games of 2016, ranked accordingly to how they are rated and the most played titles on the Playstation Portable. Don’t be surprised to see some of the newer versions of the games above.
5. GTA Liberty City Stories
Imagine being able to roam around a fully-realized, 3D world of Liberty City, gangster style. Now imagine playing Grand Theft Auto while waiting in line, for the bus or whenever you want, and that’s psp gaming at its finest!
Just like it’s predecessor the game allows for a sandbox type of play where it allows you freedom to do the things you want. Steal a car and drive around town, beat up the locals, jump off a building and rile up the cops are just some of the things you can do here. When you’re tired of that, you can play the story mode, filled with over-the-top action and missions to complete. The game promises more than 30+ hours of gameplay for the campaign mode, and endless hours of fun as you pick up various weapons and get behind sweet rides, cruising around an expansive, rich and vibrant world.
4. Final Fantasy Tactics: War of the Lions
Love Final Fantasy? Great. How about an epic RPG story? It’s in here. Final Fantasy Tactics lets you control multiple characters in a tiled landscape to defeat enemies, collecting loot and leveling up along the way.
Acquiring job points lets you unlock job skills that you can customize according to your style of play. The true addictiveness of this game grabs you early on and never lets go. Even after the story ends, you can continue leveling your characters to max (lvl 99), or unlock all the jobs available and the skills for them.
As of the moment, there are 3 psp games to the Patapon franchise, but we’ll concentrate on the first game and extol on its virtues. Patapon is a game you’ve never played before- a rhythmic action game that requires a bit of concentration, calling upon your inner beat to play.
Control stick-like figures and their propensity to march to the opposition and attack them using marching drum beats. It’s totally unique from other psp games because all four buttons are for different beats. Move them forward to progress through the stage, or have them make a hasty retreat to avoid a monstrous attack, it’s your choice! The Patapons also have different character types and different weapon grades to equip your Patapons with and live to fight another day.
2. Monster Hunter Freedom
Hark back to the days when tribes lived off the land, gathering basic materials and hunting animals around them for food. Except, in the world of Monster Hunter, it’s all about hunting humongous winged dragons, mighty apes and various other “monsters” for the glory of it!
This action-adventure genre is part RPG, and that’s the most addictive part of it. Start off with a weak character and progress by hunting monsters that get bigger and more difficult than the last one. You can forage the land and kill monsters for raw materials, turning them to epic weapons and armor. It’s not all about bashing and button-mashing, though; you’ll need a good strategy and the right kind of weapons to bring down the biggest monsters in-game. You can also party with 3 other players for a beast-hunting good time!
1. Tekken: Dark Resurrection
A triple-A title that promises an endless play time on your portable console. It’s no surprise that one of the best psp games takes on the form of a fighting game from a popular franchise.
Choose from more than 30 characters, each with their own play style in the world of Tekken Tournament. Play the story mode to unlock their respective stories in exquisite cutscenes. Each of these characters can be leveled up to the rank of “Tekken God” and they can also be customized with different clothes you earn from fighting. The best part of it is that you can bring your favorite Tekken character with you and beat up on your friends via multiplayer mode!
Sony’s little handheld gaming device sparked a revolution on mobile gaming. The massive roster of AAA psp games had enough power to keep a gamer playing until 10, 20 years after the portable console came out in 2004. Indeed, some of the most fondest gaming memories you’ve ever had could be hunkering down to play on your psp after school, or setting up multiplayer sessions with your friends during the weekend. With this I conclude my list, hope you enjoyed the article with some throwback memories at the same time made up your mind on your next PSP adventure.
