HTC Desire 816: Storage Issue After Upgrading to lollipop

15

HTC Desire 816 is undoubtedly one of the most kick ass beast out there. Due to its super solid configuration, it has been know to deliver performance. The Desire 816 recently got official lollipop update form HTC, giving it yet another advantage over other smartphones.

However, the lollipop update has brought a few issues along with itself. A lot of users have been reporting loss of available storage space in the device after upgrading their device to Android 5.0 lollipop. Out of 8 GB internal storage, only 1.3 GB now seems to be available for the user.

Since this is an official update from HTC, such an issue is something totally unexpected. With only 1.3 GB available out of 8 GB internal storage, users are forced to get rid of important apps and personal data which was already stored on the internal storage.

Another issue that the users are facing is of inability to move apps to the SD card. Unlike earlier, only few of the apps are now getting moved to the SD card and actually many of them are not even getting transferred completely.

We tried to reach HTC for the issue but didn’t get any reply.

  1. there are other problems tooo like.. OTG not responding each tym have 2 restart devce to run OTG.. low space… and cant select external storage at SHAREIT it says “Some storage card is not writable, cannot be selected ” .. i think i have 2 go back to kitkat….

  2. Mine is every time the apps have updates, it will automatically move back the installed apps from SD card to phone storage such as facebook, instigram, facebook games apps… I have to moved them back to the SD card every time the updates are finished. It’s just so annoying.

  3. No available storage, cant send text messages, missing calls, missing text, phone always reads loss of data connection. Have to restart phone hourly to get missed calls and text.

      • Yes, I did try to do factory reset twice. Before that, every time had apps updates, it will move all the updated apps from the SD card back to the phone storage then I got not enough space because most of the google apps can’t be moved. Since last week, not sure what they did, now when there are app updates and if they are stored in the SD card, it won’t update with an error that I have to move those apps manually from the SD card to the phone storage then run the updates. Isn’t it ridiculous?

  4. Same storage problem with my HTC desire 816 having upgrade to Lolipop version. It seems that they have cheated customers in India. Can we expect a fix for this bug in near future?

  5. My HTC 816 has no more memory. I had to uninstall most of my apps and updates.. This is really unacceptable since it makes the phone very limited. Pls help us. Thank you!

  6. Hi there, I love my HTC Desire 816 but the internal storage constraint is really killing me. Even I don’t install any apps, the storage only has less than 2GB out of 8GB. For sure most of the google apps cannot be moved to the SD card. Anyway, the major problem now is since the upgrade of Lollipop, there is a dowloading problem every time the app updates. I did try to do factory reset twice but it didn’t fix the problem. Before that, every time had apps updates, it will automatically move all the updated apps from the SD card back to the phone storage then I had to move them back to the SD card after the updates. Since last week, not sure what they did, now when there are app updates and if they are stored in the SD card, it won’t do the updates with an error that I have to move those apps manually from the SD card to the phone storage then run the updates again. Isn’t it ridiculous? Please let me know if the upgrade of android 6 will fix the error, and when will it be released for Desire 816? Many thanks.
