But no, it should show ‘Connected’. If it does, try some other network. This is to verify if the issue is with that particular network.

Step 2: Troubleshoot Your System

Try to connect to the same network to another system. Suppose, you are able to connect to the same network from another computer but not from the first one and the first one does not connect to other networks either, proceed to the following steps.

Method 1: Power Cycle

Power Cycle the modem, router and computer. Or if you have a combined modem and router, simply restart it. Power cycling means switch OFF the modem, router and computer- all 3. Start the modem and let at power up completely. Once all lights are green on the modem, turn on the router and allow a minute or two to let the lights settle. Then boot the computer.

Method 2: Flush the DNS

This should be one jumbo step that has a high probability of fixing the issue. Open the ‘Command Prompt’. Type the command ‘ipconfig /flushdns’ to flush the DNS cache.

  1. Now in the Networking tab, scroll down until you find the “Internet Protocol Version 4 (TCP/IPv4)” entry. Select and Click it and then again click on the Properties button.
  2. Here choose the “Use the following DNS server addresses” option.
  3. Enter 208.67.222.222 into the “Preferred DNS server” field
